St.marys welcomed near neighbours milltownpass to rochfortbridge this evening for this knockout u21 championship game (extra time if necessary ).The game was held up for over 40 mins after a no show from the referee .The game finally got going and the tempo was set straight away with some great honest hits in the middle of the park.we seen some great stages of play early on and some beautiful scores. St.Marys were getting the better of the scores in the first half and result playing well.milltownpass to there credit worked hard also and getting a few scores.st.Marys were denied 2 goal chances in the first half and we were hoping it wasn't going to come back to haunt us.our free taking was imence again tonight too.just before the break we hit the milltownpass net and went in 1-07 - 0-04 up at half time. We knew we had to keep the intensity up for another 30 mins. Milltownpass started the second half the brightest and got a few scores early on to claw back the lead.we were missing alot of chances and we also had a penalty call turned down.we had some great goal chances but couldn't convert.our lads to there credit never died or gave up.There back were to the wall and really on the back foot.milltownpass hit the net to set up a grand stand finish and went into a lead by 1 point.we needed a point and up stepped ned cully to take it all level.final whistle sounded.extra time loomed much to the distress in the milltownpass camp that xtra time had to be played. We lined our lads up and game had to be finished tonight ,this was instrucked by county board.we got the xtra time going and uped the intensity again and got some good scores and the we rattled the milltownpass net once again.from here we really drove on and extanged scores but it was to be a night for st.Marys to be the happier of the teams and we ran our winners st.Marys 2-12 - milltownpass 1-11.well done lads,through to next round.Naomh Mhuire abu. .....
